Napra

Napra Band was founded in he autumn of 2004. On its debut album of 2007 entitled ‘Oh, What A World!’ (Jaj, a világ!) traditional folk music and rock music intertwined so deeply, that it made listeners believe that the violin and the accordion speaking the same language as the piano, the drum or the electric guitar was the most natural thing to hear.

It is no coincidence that in 2008 the album won the Fonogram Award in the category of the Best World Music Band in Hungary, and also received a favourable response in international specialist music periodical Songlines, a respected English world music magazine.

Miklós Both who has became famous as the ’guitarprimas’ of the band, composed music to the poetry of Miklós Radnóti, allowing comtemporary music and psychedelic rock music to rise to prominence.

The second Napra Band album entitled‘In The Moonlight’ (Holdvilágos) was released in April 2010 and could be viewed as a synthesis of the ‘Oh, What A World!’ (Jaj, a világ!) and the Radnóti albums, on which a fusion of Béla Bartók’s and Jimmy Hendrix’s heritage together with Transylvanian folk music and contemporary music call out to the audience simultaneously. In addition to that, a number of surprises including near-east reggae, popular forms of songs to pseudo ’cafe music’ and turns are awaiting the listener.

Their lates work (EP) entitled ’Naive’ (Naiv) together with two new songs and two concert videos could be downloaded from their website free of charge. These songs represent the „naive” style with which the band has always flirted, and which reflects the mood of ’Little House’ (Pici Ház) and ’Tulip Song’ (Tulipános).
