Tóth Evelin

Evelin Tóth career has been driven profoundly from within, but has surpassed all stylistic and technical limits.
Tóth Evelin & David Yengibarjan
/

She has been focusing on music and theatre from a very early age. After her classical studies she specialised in a number of exotic techniques (South-Indian, North-African, Sephardic). Since then, she has worked out her own voice technique, which is based on the concept of using the body as a musical instrument. Her repertoire includes traditional sephardic and Hungarian folk music, ethno jazz, electronic music, improvisation and music composed to poetry.

About ten year ago she joined the ’Bladder Circus Company’ (Hólyagcirkusz csoport) and started singing in the Ektar band and Rubái trio [PR1] led by Szabolcs Szőke, who was a strong force in the Bladder Circus Company as well. She has recorded a solo album entitled ’Let him kiss me’ (Csókoljon meg…) with the drummer Hamid Drake of international fame, and with Mihály Dresch, László Fassang, Zoltán Lantos and Róbert Benkő. She collaborated with electronic composer Erikk McKenzie (Norway) and Péter Szalai on the album ’Embraced’ (Ölelésben), composed music with Miklós Lukács and András Dés to the poetry of Orsolya Karafiáth.

In 2012 together with Péter Szalai, Zoltán Lantos and Mátyás Premecz they formed Méthode Traditionelle; and she joined up with the Armenian David Yengibarjan who can be considered an iconic figure on the Hungarian music scene.

Evelin Tóth will be performing with David Yengibarjan.
